Early but Vilsack and Newt are impressive.
Tom Vilsack continues to move up the rankings. Two important pieces of information here, the first is the high scores he is getting, the second is the number of votes. Vilsack's profile has been up for less than a week and he's already pushing 200 votes. Newt Gingrich isn't even running, but the Republicans on the site support him strongly, At present he is Neck and neck with Rudy.
Want an early prediction for 2008?
I'd put my money on Newt and Vilsack at this point. Tom Tancredo generates interest but I think he's considered one dimensional at this point (Illegal immigration). It's way to early but that's the trend now. Hillary gets lots of votes, both up and down, which indicates trouble appealing to the moderates.
The press conference was a lot of fun, but a bit too much with all the people signed in and trying to respond to the question. Candidate Catbus has suggested more of a debate format with questions to two or three candidates, and then other's could chime in with questions or responses. The mods could avoid duplicate questions.
There's been some concerned expressed about one or two candidates voting everyone a 1. This isn't a huge issue. A vote for 1 is still better than no vote at all (remember votes and ratings count towards runoffs and monthly primaries.
The race on the Republican side is really tight. On any give day you can see broad movement. This bodes well for some of the up and coming candidates. We have quite a few Dems and Republicans sitting at 35 to 55 votes. When they hit 75 they show up in the top 20. We try to feature as many new candidates as we can to give them a chance to get votes.
February primary is starting to shape up.
So far Hawk, Buckeyekid and Tneedles are in. Next week will finish up and the final will be on February 28th.
Keep the suggestions and comments coming (Use the contact page) and let us know if you would like to request a runoff between yourself and another candidate, yourself and one of the FEC (Nationally recognized) candidates, or just two candidates that you want to see paired off.
